When I was growing up, I was very fortunate to live in a time when the school district and or city provided recreation directors to supervise the children after school. We were offered all sports and had intramural teams that played other schools on weekends. Many parents came to watched us play on Saturdays at a local middle school in town. Parents socialized and were happy that we had a safe environment for their children to play.
I hope that in these trouble times we can offer a safe place where our children can play again. I have been a help you person all my life. I have been involved in coaching and mentoring children most of my life. I am a single parent and an advocate for children. I have been involved in Cub Scouts, in the military, a business owner and a real-estate agent.
I have also helped the members of the teamsters to secure a better pension and insurance plan. For the last 4 years I have been doing community service with the elderly and the youth from San Leandro High School. I am an advocate for human rights, and I have sat on the HUD Board for Alameda County. The wisdom I received as a young adult came from my involvement with the elderly. The stories they told were fascinating and later on very educational.
We do not have those opportunities anymore. That is way we founded O.H.P. to be able to provide a safe, exciting educational environment to the youth of San Leandro and the Bay Area.
